BMW Servicing, Diagnostics & Repairs

BMW cars are precision engineered to be reliable, comfortable, and economical. However to keep these values throughout the lifetime of the car, it will need to be serviced correctly with either BMW genuine service parts or O.E service parts (parts which meet the same high standards set by BMW).

Electronic service history can be updated for applicable cars (2013 onward). This includes updating with BMW and also updating the i-drive screen. This is done using dealer bought equipment and being registered with BMW.

Oils We Use in your BMW

Also required during the engine oil service is the correct quality, standard, and grade of engine oil. Whereas some garages my use a 1 oil fits all policy we only stock and use oil for BMW and Mini vehicles.

  • Castrol Edge 0w-30 BMW LL04
  • Castrol Edge 10w-60 ( For M-Power models and some 123d models )
  • Castrol Magnetec 10w-40 BMW LL01 ( For use in older BMW models and also higher mileage engines where the service intervals are adjusted to suit. )

As well as using the BMW Approved Genuine parts and Castrol BMW approved engine oil, we also use Forte engine flushes in every service.

Engine oil is always drained when hot to ensure we get as much out as possible. The Oil filter will always be Genuine or O.E, we always replace the sump plug copper washer and the oil filter O-Ring seals.

We can Reset the Service lights in accordance to BMW guide lines, correct service data if required, and complete the service book complete with our BMW specialists stamp. All invoices supplied with show the vehicle details as well as a parts and labour breakdown so they are easy to follow and understand.

Types of Indicator Lights

The Oil service consists of an Oil and filter change, and a microfilter change ( also known as the cabin or pollen filter )

The Inspection 1 service is an oil service with an added full inspection of the vehicle, lights levels, tyre pressures etc, as well as a diagnostic check.

The Inspection 2 service is all of the above with the added air filter, fuel filter if diesel and spark plugs if petrol.

However after build date 03/2003 the servicing changed for all diesel engine cars. Inspection 2 service is no longer carried out.

The air filter and diesel fuel filter are changed on every 3rd oil change.

Petrol models are not affected by this change, nor are pre 03/2003 cars.

Post 03/2003 model service schedule:

– Oil Service

– Inspection 1

– Oil Service – This is the 3rd Oil change, and so Air filter and Fuel filters are replaced.

– Inspection 1

Note we also recommend the engine breather gets replaced on diesel models at either the Inspection 2 or the 3rd Oil service. blocked engine breathers can lead to premature turbo failure.

A few of our customers reviews

Excellent service, keep you well informed of price and what they are doing. Give information on future work required.

Picked up my 435d today after its first service at 19,000 miles. It now runs like brand new again; much more responsive even at higher speeds. I cannot recommend BM Automotive highly enough!
